St Gerard Catholic High School offers a Dual Credit program, whereby students earn college credit through our partnership with nearby St. Philip’s College. Students may enroll in 2 courses per semester at NO charge to them, but are required to pay for textbooks and additional materials required by the professor at St. Philip’s. Our students have 3 methods to earn college credit while enrolled at St. Gerard Catholic High School:
-
Via Online courses offered at St Phillip’s College.
-
Taking classes at St. Gerard Catholic High School with our faculty members, who are also adjunct faculty from St. Philip’s.
-
Taking courses on site at St. Philip’s. Students will not leave St. Gerard during the school day, so classes may only be taken at St. Philip’s College outside of class time.
Prerequisites:
-
Students must take the THEA (Texas Higher Education Assessment) test for $29.00 at St. Phillip’s College Assessment Center. Placement in Dual Credit courses is dependent on THEA test scores. Students may re-take the THEA test in order to score higher, as students may not enroll in certain Dual Credit courses if their THEA test scores are not in accordance with St. Philip’s standards.
-
Parental consent form must be signed.
-
Courses must be approved through St. Gerard Catholic High School Guidance Counselor’s office.
-
A current High School transcript must be provided to St. Philip’s College, which is issued through our guidance counselor’s office.
-
Students must be fully enrolled at St. Gerard Catholic High School with no outstanding balance of tuition or fees.
