Facilities and Safety Protocols
Q: How will classrooms be configured to meet social
distancing guidelines and recommendations?
A: Classrooms have been measured to identify suitable
arrangements for appropriate physical distancing
between all students and the teacher.
Excess furniture has been removed to provide optimal
spacing. Designated seats will be assigned to assist with
contact tracing and determination of risk of exposure in the
event a student in the class is diagnosed with a confirmed
case of COVID-19. The extra desks in classrooms will have clear signage that states “do not use”. Backpacks will be placed on the seats of desk not used by students so that isles are clear in case of an emergency evacuation.
Academics and Technology
Q: How much on-screen time will my child be required to have each week?
A: Each day of instruction, whether a student is remote or in the classroom, will be much like a normal school day, following our regular bell schedule, with some allowance for remote students to have some necessary screen breaks throughout the day.
Students will have four days of live instruction -- either in-person or synchronous remote learning -- each week. The face-to-face instruction school schedule will be made up of 45 minute classes, with five (5) minute passing periods. However, teachers will utilize the first five (5) minutes and the last five (5) minutes for housekeeping purposes (attendance, sanitizing desks, etc.).
On days when students are “at home”, whether in a hybrid model or remote model, they should expect 35 minutes of academic instructional class time per class. For example, if a student is enrolled in seven (7) academic classes, they would have 4 hours and 5 minutes of on-screen time on days when they are “at home”. This does not include time spent on homework.
